GLOBE Observer Connect 19 March 2026: Bringing Your Observations to Meteorologists
In March 2025, environmental data collected by the GLOBE community became available in NOAA’s Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System (MADIS). Supported by Synoptic Data, this integration helps bridge the gap between citizen science and professional meteorological analysis. By making GLOBE observations available via MADIS and the Synoptic Data Viewer, the GLOBE community is contributing data to help scientists understand Earth’s complex systems.
In this GLOBE Observer Connect session held on 19 March 2026, we heard directly from the architects of this collaboration, including a conversation with staff from the GLOBE Program Office, NOAA, and Synoptic Data, who shared insights into this exciting milestone, described examples of how the data are used, and demonstrated how the data in MADIS can be accessed.
