Did you know you can create or join a team to do GLOBE with a group? A GLOBE Team is a group of scientific observers working together as an organization. Teams can be used to set up a competition, coordinate a community’s data collection efforts, support an educational or corporate initiative, or simply enable a group of people to work together. Anyone can form or join a GLOBE team.
Teams can be open or private. Anyone can join an open team. The team manager must invite participants to join a private team.
Every team has a team page on the GLOBE website. To see your team’s page, go to GLOBE Teams, then select “Join a Team.” You can search for your team’s name or scroll through the list. Click on your team’s name.
The team page includes a summary of how many members are on the team (including screen names), how much data the team has collected, and links to the data collected.
Why Teams?
Teams for Individuals
A team is a good way for a group of individuals to work together for a common end. You may want to collect data as an extended family to support a student working on a science project or as members of a community concerned about a particular issue such as mosquito habitats or land cover change.
Teams for Informal Educators
The team tool can be used to track engagement or participation in your programs. You will be able to see how many people join the team, and how many use GLOBE to take observations. You can create teams to manage a competition. Teams could be part of a corporate initiative or a volunteer program to foster environmental data collection focused on a particular community's needs. Please contact us if you have questions about teams.
Teams for Schools
Want your students or their families to contribute data measurements to your school? You can create a GLOBE Team for your school and invite other educators and families to join (see Invite People to Join a Private Team). From that time on, any data they enter with GLOBE Observer will be added to your school’s measurements!
Educators can also use GLOBE guest accounts (available on your MyPage) which can be used to login to GLOBE Observer and enter data for your school.
Teams for Colleges and Universities
If you use GLOBE with your undergraduate students or pre-service educators, you can create a Team to track their participation. Have your students create a GLOBE account and then invite them to your team. You will be able to see the data they upload through GLOBE.
Teams for Partnerships
Partnerships can create a Team and invite the educators in their network to join. When holding a GLOBE training, have the participants join your team. This way you will be able to track their engagement with GLOBE data entry during the training as well as when they bring GLOBE back to their school or organization.
