GLOBE Observer Connect January 2026: Impacts of NASA Response Mappers

Date: 2026-01-22 - 2026-01-22
Time: 12:00 pm ET - 12:30 pm ET
Location: virtual

Between August and October, GLOBE Observers in the southeastern United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands collected land cover observations for the NASA Disasters Program as part of a pilot initiative called NASA Response Mappers. The observations fed in to the Disasters Response Coordination System, which provides satellite-based information to emergency managers after a disaster. The NASA Response Mappers pilot was meant to test how well citizen science observations can fill gaps in satellite data after a disaster strikes.

Please join us on the 22nd of January at 12 pm ET (17:00 UTC) for a GLOBE Observer Connect conversation with members of the NASA Disaster’s Program. They will share what they learned from the NASA Response Mappers pilot project and how the project impacted disaster impact mapping.
