GLOBE Observer Connect February 2026: Exploring Data Entry - Water Quality
With the new training system released in late December, all GLOBE Observers now have access to the GLOBE Data Entry button in the app and can collect data from the full suite of GLOBE protocols (after reviewing the protocol guide or taking online or in-person training). For February's GLOBE Observer Connect, we will introduce you to some of the data collection options available related to water quality. Our guest expert is Peggy Foletta, who started with the GLOBE Program as a teacher in its very first year, 1995. She is now a GLOBE Partner, GLOBE Trainer, and educator at Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve in California. Peggy will describe the GLOBE activities and protocols she uses with teachers and students in the slough habitats, and why collecting water quality data is important. We will also briefly go over the options for getting training for all GLOBE protocols.
Read about the new training options in the news article, “All GLOBE Protocols Now Open to Citizen Scientists.” You can also watch videos Peggy has made on the topic on this GLOBE Hydrosphere Protocols at Elkhorn Slough playlist.
