Geofence Projects

GLOBE's Observer app has the ability to inform users when they are in an "Area of Interest". The Area of Interest can be created for scientists and others in the GLOBE community who wish to encourage data collection from one of our four Observer protocols (Clouds, Mosquito Habitats, Land Cover, Trees) in a specific region. Scientists or other experts should reach out to the GLOBE Observer team for their project to be considered for inclusion in GLOBE Observer as a geofenced area of interest.

Please include the following in your message to request a project:

• Contact information for the requestor: name, phone number, email address, and organization
• Project Name
• Project Description
• Project Impact (why a scientist or community leader is asking for the data)
• Protocols used
• Special instructions for volunteer data collectors, including any tags to put in the field notes (to make it easier to sort the data)
• Date range during which data are requested
• Description of the geographic area of interest (will eventually need to be created as a GeoJSON shape)
• A contact email volunteers can use to reach the requestor (if different than the above)
• A link to a website for more information (if available)
• A link to a GLOBE Team (if using)
