Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. I served in the United States Navy and am now an assistant professor at the Uniformed Service University of Health Sciences, in Bethesda, Maryland USA.

 

What do you do?

I am a geospatial analyst and species distribution modeler.

 

How do you use GLOBE Observer?

I utilize the Land Cover aspect of GLOBE Observer. Land cover changes cause impacts on distribution of disease arthropod vectors.

 

How do you plan on using GLOBE Observer in the future?

I plan to use it on regional and local spatial scales.

 

Why is citizen science important to you?

It is important because of community engagement and integrating sociological with biological sciences.

 

What advice do you have for people just getting into citizen science?

You can help to improve the quality of your life, if you see something, say something!

 

What do you like to do for fun?

I like playing soccer, cross fit, lifting weights, music, hiking, and people watching, lol.

 

What inspires you?

My mom and where I came from!
