NASA GLOBE Observer’s Weekly Roundup: 18-24 December 2016

Global map of the Earth.

Winter is officially here.  A few things to do, observe and listen to in this week's roundup.

1. IMAGE OF THE WEEK: Wednesday is the winter solstice. The above image is of a winter solstice day 12 years ago. See all those swirling clouds?

2. SHOWER: 21/22 December is the peak of the Ursids meteor shower.  For how, and when, to view, check out the link below.

3. ADVISORY: Did you notice a 401 error when trying to submit your data recently?

This issue has now been resolved. The good news is that anyone who collected data between 10-18 December and had any issue should now be able to submit that data without a problem. If you should encounter any further issues while submitting, please contact us via the Help Desk (link below). We apologize for any inconvenience.

4. SYMPHONY: If you start typing "Beethoven" in a search bar, no doubt his "5th Symphony" will pop up. This week (22 December) is the 208th anniversary of the world premier of this most famous piece of music.  Do you remember Disney's Fantasia 2000 interpretation of the piece?  Clouds make quite the appearance.
