Free and Open to the Public -- Webinars for the NASA GLOBE Cloud Challenge 2022: Clouds in a Changing Climate
Make plans to attend one of the following information and training opportunities as part of the NASA GLOBE Cloud Challenge 2022: Clouds in a Changing Climate. These webinars are free and open to the public. However, you must register in advance to be able to attend the webinars.
- When Clouds Take Over the Sky -- Webinar Streaming FREE on YouTube
Date and Time: 10 January 2022 at 09:00 PM in Eastern Standard Time.
What to do when clouds fill the view of your sky? Turn this into a citizen science opportunity!
Join the NASA Night Sky Network to hear Dr. Jessica Taylor from NASA's Langley Research Center share with us how you can provide data to NASA even on cloudy days.
Join the GLOBE Cloud Challenge (see below, Jan 15-Feb 15). Your observations documenting what’s in the sky are helpful to scientists. Participants are encouraged to download the GLOBE Observer app to start contributing to this volunteer science community.
- Los Angeles Public Library Neighborhood Science -- to register: https://neisci.cc/nasacloud22
Date and Time: 13 January 2022 at 05:00 PM in Pacific Time (US and Canada).
Start the new year with the NASA GLOBE Cloud Challenge!
Join our guest speaker from NASA for an interactive program to kickoff and learn about the challenge and how you can help NASA scientists study our climate by sharing and capturing data about clouds where you live!
To participate in the hands-on activity, please have the following material ready before the program begins:
-- a piece of paper,
-- a light source (flashlight or cell phone),
-- a few assorted transparent, translucent, and opaque, such as glass, cellophane, tissue paper, cardboard, foil, etc.
This family-friendly program is suitable for ages 5 and up.
- AMS Weather Band Community and Citizen Science Symposium -- to register: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwsfu2hrT4rEtPV5rVa_hFi4gdrcV0V5fig
Date and time: 21 January 2022 at 12:00 - 05:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
Please join us to learn from, connect with, and celebrate community and citizen science in the atmospheric sciences.
This program will focus on exploring existing community and citizen science programs. We’ll hear from leaders with NASA’s GLOBE program, the National Weather Service, CoCoRaHS, and AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange on how they work with community and citizen science, how and where citizen scientists make the biggest impact, and how your own observations can contribute to everything from community safety to satellite data.
