GLOBE Observer Connect: December 2023

Date: 12/14/2023 - 12/14/2023
Time: 12:00 EST - 12:30 EST

Our dynamic planet is an intricate patchwork of forests, fields, cities … However, mapping Earth's diverse landscapes is an immense challenge for scientists. Satellite imaging has its limitations, while traditional field surveys are time-consuming and sparse. Now, help is coming from an unexpected source: crowds of everyday citizen scientists. Join us 14 December at 12:00 pm ET (17:00 UTC) for the December GLOBE Observer Connect session, a conversation with Dr. Di Yang from the University of Wyoming, one of the authors of a recent paper exploring the benefits of multi-directional views from citizen science observers for land cover classification. Read a summary of the paper in a science blog on the GLOBE Observer website, “Seeing the World from All Angles: How Multi-View Crowdsourcing is Revolutionizing Land Cover Mapping.”

Register for the session.
