SMART FIRES Burn Site Monitoring Test

SMART FIRES Burn Site Monitoring Test

Project Description:

SMART FIRES is asking for your GLOBE observations of the land and skies to support research about prescribed fires. SMART Fires is a Montana project funded by the National Science Foundation to better understand smoke from prescribed fires and to predict wildfire emissions and air quality impacts. You can help by observing the land to show fuel conditions and the atmosphere to gauge smoke conditions. Observations collected in this request are a pilot for future research projects.

Project Impact:

Our goal is to involve Montanans in this prescribed fire research - to contribute research-quality data for our scientists and for community awareness of fire fuels and impacts of fire on communities.
